Job is a literary masterpiece that tells the story of a man described as “blameless and upright” who “feared God and shunned evil.” Yet Job suffered. In this book God reminds believers that he sometimes sends suffering to test them. His faithful people patiently endure each trial and trust that God’s ways are far beyond the human ability to understand.

yet will I hope in him” (13:15). By God’s grace Job kept his faith, even though at times it wavered and his intense suffering led him to say things he would not have said otherwise. Yet Job needed to learn an important lesson in humility. Through his two speeches the Lord made Job realize that he was totally dependent on his God and that he must humbly submit to God and realize that all blessings come from God.
